In Uganda, we have been working for nearly 30 years to build resilience and restore dignity through interventions in Health, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), and Food & Nutrition Security (FNS). Partnering with over 10 national organisations, our efforts currently focus on nationwide health and the refugee response in West Nile and Southwest Uganda, supporting refugees from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo and host communities.
For its work in Kampala, Uganda, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Human Resource Manager – National Position.
As the Human Resource Manager, you will be in charge of ensuring smooth running of all HR related topics, identification of required positions and staff, managing recruitments, on- and off boarding, as well as the management of contracts, salary schemes, insurances, and more.
Your responsibilities:
- HR Administration: Develop and monitor the implementation of the national HR manual and guidelines as per MI guidelines and national legislation.
- Recruitment: Management of the entire application and recruitment process, including shortlisting and selection of candidates, interviews, evaluations according to objective assessment tools and communication with candidates.
- Onboarding: Development and implementation of induction plans and onboarding processes in close cooperation with senior management.
- Well-being and Staff Care: Development of initiatives aimed at improving staff morale, mental health, and overall work-life balance.
- Capacity Development: HR capacity building, training & support to partners.
- Team and Organizational Development: Support the Country Director in implementing organizational set-up & development.
- Compliance and Safeguarding: Comply with and uphold MI safeguarding policies (including child protection, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, bullying and harassment) and all Codes of Conduct.
Your profile:
- University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or any related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in HR management/administration
- Experience in working in a humanitarian relief/ international cooperation context is an asset
- Language skills: English fluent
- Very good knowledge of MS Office and common office software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- High level of cultural sensitivity
What we offer:
- Start Date: Immediately
- Duty Station: Kampala
- Duration of contract: 1 year with possible extension subject to donor funding
- Salary expectation: Gross UGX 7,500,000 to 9,000,000 depending on qualification and experience.
- Benefits : Provision of Health Insurance, GPA and a 13th pay cheque.
