Malteser International is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. In the Middle East Region, Malteser International (MI) is operating in the context of the humanitarian crisis in Syria since 2012 implementing emergency relief measures in Türkiye, Syria, and Lebanon and since 2014 in Iraq. MI’s programs cover needs mainly in the health sector and are mostly partner implemented. In the Holy Land, in the Holy Land, MI is coordinating the provision of primary health care services to affected communities

For its work in the Holy Land, Malteser International is looking for a  General Practitioner – National Position.

As a General Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality primary healthcare services to vulnerable communities. You will provide comprehensive medical consultations, diagnose and treat common acute and chronic conditions, ensure appropriate referrals when needed, and promote preventive healthcare. 

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services through the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients across all age groups.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with national and international clinical guidelines.
  • Prescribe medications and perform minor medical procedures within the scope of primary healthcare practice.
  • Identify and stabilize medical emergencies and refer patients to secondary or tertiary healthcare facilities when required.
  • Promote disease prevention, health education, and healthy lifestyle practices through patient counseling and community awareness.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and complete all required clinical documentation and referral reports.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Your profile:

  • Medical Degree MD/MBBS from a recognized university. 
  • Valid medical license to practice 
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in primary healthcare 
  • Experience in humanitarian or NGO settings is an asset 
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and medical ethics, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills

What we offer:

  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Duty Station: Gaza City
  • Duration of contract: until 31.12.2026 (with possibility of extension upon further project funding) 
  • Salary: Based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with MI’s salary scale
