Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno, Taraba and Adamawa States, MI is currently active in the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), Protection and FNSL sectors for saving and improving the lives of both the IDP/refugee populations as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, including NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines, and hygiene promotion. The protection activities focus on prevention and response to Gender Based Violence (GBV)  cases.

The Food Nutrition Security and Livelihood interventions mainly focus on micro gardening, pullet rearing for egg production, composting, and Nutrition (food demonstration, referrals of malnutrition cases to nutrition partners, and sensitisation on nutrition). Malteser International applies a participatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach.

For our work in Katsina State, Nigeria, Malteser International is seeking a qualified Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) Officer (subject to funding) – National Position.

The Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) Officer will be responsible for the implementation of the Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) Program within the Malteser Areas of Interventions in Katsina State.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of multipurpose cash assistance, ensuring high-quality data collection and reporting in line with Malteser International standards, and maintaining strong partnerships with communities and key stakeholders
  • Lead community engagement, beneficiary targeting, registration, financial service provider procurement and supervision, cash disbursement, and market monitoring to ensure transparent, accountable, and effective MPCA delivery
  • Manage program data collection, documentation, and reporting, contribute to learning and coordination processes, and ensure internal and external compliance with Malteser International procedures
  • Strengthen collaboration with government authorities, cash coordination platforms, humanitarian partners, and community structures to ensure acceptance, effective coordination, and smooth program implementation

Your profile:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in the field of economics, social sciences, or agricultural economics, with at least 2-3 years of experience in connection with MPCA
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in the local dialect (preferably Hausa and English), are a core criterion
  • Ability to work effectively with local governments, align with MI values and standards, and cope in stressful or hostile environments, including travelling to deep field locations and conducting partner visits
  • Qualified candidates currently based in Katsina or with Katsina State of Origin will be prioritized
